Feast for Friends
Feast is partnering with MannaBee and The Flying Biscuit Cafe to collect donations to provide meals to individuals and families who are less fortunate during the Holidays. Our friends won't just eat, they will Feast. The Flying Biscuit Cafe will be preparing these delicious meals and Feast will collaborate with MannaBee to make sure these meals reach those who need them most throughout the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas. Feast will also commit to providing a % of our sales through December to help reach our goal of $5,000. Feast, MannaBee and The Flying Biscuit Cafe have a shared vision of eradicating hunger in Birmingham, and throughout Alabama. Help us brighten the Holidays of those in need this season by contributing ANY amount for our cause! Every plate has the potential to carry not only an incredible meal, but history, meaning and memory. We connect people to food because we believe food connects people. Let's celebrate the Holidays one meal at a time!
Boys In The Band benefitting the SAM Foundation
t is a genuine privilege to partner with The SAM Foundation again for our third annual Alabama tribute show here in my hometown of Fort Payne, Alabama. The work that The SAM Foundation is putting forth to prevent suicide through education, and reducing the stigma of mental health is much needed and much appreciated. As someone who has personally struggled with anxiety and depression since adolescence it is a cause close to my heart. I believe that feeling free to talk about mental health, especially for those who may have been taught to hide feelings and emotions, is a major step toward preventing suicide. My grandfather, Paul Crow, started what became the Randy Owen Celebrity Golf Classic in the early 1980s, and that event raised over $1M for abused, abandoned, and neglected young people in Alabama. It was a cause important to him, and he generously offered his support for many years. In my mind I’m following in his footsteps, in a small way, to support a cause close to me. Not to mention it is a huge honor to me that our event pays tribute to my other heroes, our hometown boys, Alabama. Roll on!

The Good Grit Fund
Good Grit Humanities Fund
Good Grit strives to support and highlight those working to help others. Since our first publication, Good Grit has highlighted amazing people and organizations that do just that. There's Texas-based Sandal Gap Studio, using art to bring those with and without disabilities closer together. In Mississippi, Glo Pals uses light up friends to help parents care for children with autism. The list of people and nonprofits that are dedicating their lives to benefit others is long, and that’s why Good Grit has partnered with B Charitable to create the Good Grit Fund. While we will continue to highlight these organizations on the pages of the magazine and online, the fund is our way to actively support them and inspire action. Please consider joining us this year in supporting those who are assisting those in need.

Donations made to this campaign are are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Thank you, Jonathan Friends, We’re bursting with excitement and have some big news to share with you: IT. IS. HAPPENING! After meeting our first-born son 11+ years ago and spending the years that followed fighting to get him to the States, it’s official – we’re just a few months(potentially sooner) from bringing Rowen H O M E from Haiti! It’s been a long, beautiful, hard journey; one that has shaped so much of who and where we are in our lives. While we’re still in shock that this dream is finally coming true, we are grateful we’ll soon have the privilege to be Rowen’s day-to-day, real life, in-person family - shutting one LONG chapter and opening the next in this journey! The path to Rowen has offered us many lessons. Most often, patience. And then, humility. So we find ourselves again positioned to lean into our community to ask for help in two ways in this final chapter of the journey. There are escalating costs that challenge our ability to give Rowen his fresh start. Because we desire to be in the best position possible to both handle the logistics of getting Rowen home and to embark prepared-and-ready on this new adventure with our oldest son, we humbly ask you to consider sharing a final round of financial support. More precise insight, here are a few of the key expenses listed below: $10,000+…this funding is due to the non-profit organization in Haiti that has been caring for him. This has accrued during various moments when we either were advised not to pay due to it making things look bad for our case, inability to get funds to Haiti, etc - over the past 12 years. We desire to honor this organization for their care of our boy by ensuring they are paid what they are due. $8,000+…this cost is the approximate cost for remaining fees such as final agency dues, paperwork translations, accommodations when we go to get him, his Haitian visa, passport and other costs that add up quickly and sometimes surprisingly. $7,000+…this final line need represents the non-traditional expenses that come along with international adoption, in particular, our international adoption. This will cover travel expenses to and from Haiti for us and Rowen, unexpected items that have been required to care for his personal needs, counseling for ourselves, counseling to prepare our boys for this transition, and counseling/medical needs that will be needed upon homecoming for Rowen. Thank you won’t ever be enough. But please know that you are so very loved and appreciated. With hopeful joy, Payton, Heather, Rowen, Paxton, Cruze and Mills Junkin
