Maya's Spark Fund 2022
James Charitable Fund
Maya was a beautiful girl. She took so much joy out of the everyday things: music, dogs, water, reading, and ipads. She was fun-loving, affectionate, and mischievous. She knew how to love and loved her family and school team deeply and well. People were important to her. She would find an “in” with a person and then just work it. You couldn’t help but love and laugh with Maya. She had challenges. She had significant medical issues, from her heart to her kidneys to her ears and her eyes. She had significant educational issues, still learning to count to 20 and learning how to read. Her being low verbal meant she had significant social issues as well. Being her mother meant coordinating doctor appointments, therapy appointments, and meetings with her educational team. It meant seeking out educational opportunities for me and social experiences for her. She had an amazingly positive attitude. Maya never anticipated disaster. She walked in fresh to each new experience. Maya passed away unexpectedly in April of 2021 ultimately from a complication from a surgery she had on day 2 of her life. She was 15 years old. We started Maya’s Spark fund to keep her legacy alive by supporting access to the programs that gave her (and our whole family) so much! The Maya’s Spark Fund had an incredibly successful campaign last year. We were able to raise over $24,000 last year. This allowed us to support access to so many of the programs that made such a difference in our lives. We made significant contributions to: Adam’s Camp New England Best Buddies Camp Communicate at the Pine Tree Society David’s House Down syndrome - Autism connection NAPA center NH Leadership Zebra Crossings Please help us continue her legacy! We are relaunching our campaign to fundraise for her fund on 3/21 -- World Down Syndrome day! We will gift again on her birthday in November. Be sure to watch the video and learn more about her and our mission.

Cliff Place Cares
Shugart Charitable Giving Fund
We've been working hard to simplify charitable giving with our new platform, B Charitable. A big THANK YOU to everyone that has signed up, made contributions and provided feedback. We have a challenge and an invitation for our friends, family and neighbors. Some families from Cliff Place have selected six local charities to benefit from a crowdfunding campaign called Cliff Place Cares. All contributions are eligible for a 50% match from one of our organizers, and each donor will receive a charitable contribution receipt for their donation. So if you give $1, your donation will grow to $1.50 after the match. Through grants to the following charities: Children’s Hospital of Alabama, Community Foodbank of Central Alabama, Magic City Woodworks, Neverthirst, Big Oak Ranch, and Lifeline, this campaign will provide 4,000 meals to hungry children in Central Alabama, dig a well in India that will provide clean water for 18-20 families, provide 3 months of living expenses for a teen needing a chance, teach life skills to 10 orphaned and vulnerable children, teach a trade and life skills to marginalized men, and provide access to world class healthcare for children of Alabama after our goal of $13,100 is reached. Together, we can make a greater impact in the lives of others. I’m excited to see our community rally together and support some amazing causes. Thank you for your generosity in helping others. Please help grow our community's impact by liking, sharing, tagging your neighbors, and commenting on this post.

Saving Innocence Fundraising Campaign
deannastag
In honor of Giving Tuesday, I want to help raise awareness & money for a charity that I hold very near and dear to my heart, Saving Innocence. It’s an organization with a mission to recover and restore child victims of sex trafficking through strategic partnerships with law enforcement, social service providers, schools and other frontline professionals, while mobilizing communities to prevent abuse and increase neighborhood safety. When it comes to the idea of sex trafficking, it seems like something that could only be happening somewhere far away, but the reality is that anyone with a facebook account or instagram account is at risk. Saving Innocence is a Los Angeles based nonprofit that is in a unique position where they are actually partnering with law enforcement to act on reports within 90 minutes of getting the call that a child has been recovered. They stabilize the crisis as best they can, and then walk with those children through life back to a place of health and wholeness. These kids have been lied to and cheated in the most vulnerable time in their life, and need someone to care about them. The life expectancy once one of these children begins being trafficked is 7 years & Saving Innocence is working diligently to provide a system that helps lead them out of the darkness and back towards healing. We need people to rise up and be a part of the solution. We can add hope where these kids have lost it. The tide is turning, and Saving Innocence is a part of that turning tide! So this is a call to action for everyone reading this. As you start to think about the blessings that have come into your life throughout this past year and the support that you have been lucky to have, I'm asking that you donate to this campaign and together we can help support an organization that is serving SO MANY PEOPLE stuck in such a tragic situation. •• BONUS IMPACT THROUGH B CHARITABLE •• The first 100 donors to our campaign will receive a $25 contribution match, which is an extra $2,500 that we can use to help Saving Innocence. I hope you all will join me in this time of giving. DeAnna
